Investor-Owned Electric Transmission Companies AKA Public Utility Companies
Break the Monopoly

Most view their home electric public utility company as a community service provider, like they would the street sweepers, garbage, and waste service provider or even our local emergency response teams. What most don’t know is that most California residents receive their energy from a for profit investor-owned electric transmission company, meaning their business model revolves around maximizing their profit.
Did you know that PG&E one of the largest Electric transmission companies in California increased their cost for kW by over 30% in 2023, and had a rate increase effective January 01, 2024, of 13%, and has already requested two additional rate increases for 2024? Did you know that the California clients of the three largest investor-owned transmission companies (PG&E, SDGE, & Southern California Edison) pay some of the highest electric rates in the nation?
The investor-owned electric transmission companies invest millions of dollars every year lobbying for favorable rule changes that benefit their shareholders at the expense of the California residence. In 2023 alone they successfully lobbied for NEM 3.0 (net metering 3.0) which increased the cost of going solar. The bottom line is investor-owned companies are all about maximizing their profit. They are motivated to secure the benefit of their shareholders at the cost of their customer.
Unlike most industries where the consumer has options to shop; the transmission of electricity is controlled by geography, meaning that where you live determines which electric transmission company you are assigned to. Historically the electric transmission companies have not had to compete for your business and have had a geographical monopoly. Solar allows you to save money and take control of your electric needs away from the for profit, price gauging electric transmission companies.

Do you know how much you will be paying for electricity in 5 years? If you had solar you could answer that question. If you are wondering why your electric rates have gone up or are concerned about how much your future electric bill will be then you should consider Solar Energy Plus.
